Aliecia Thomas

Board of Directors, President

Alecia Thomas has served in education for over 17 years. She grew up witnessing the impacts her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother had on people and their academic success. They influenced her to become an educator.

Alecia believes that education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact on the lives of their students. As a result of her hard work ethic, Mrs. Thomas was honored as 2015-2016 Teacher of The Year. She currently serves on the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Committee, and supports students with diverse learning needs.

Alecia earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Sam Houston State University. She married her college sweetheart and they have 4 children; 3 sons and 1 daughter.


Bianca Henny

Board of Directors, Secretary

A native of Houston, TX, Bianca Henny is a graduate of Howard University and the University of Houston-Clear Lake. The importance of education was instilled in her by her mother. So, it is an honor for her to support students and their families in the same capacity.

Bianca Henny serves as the Title I Program Specialist in the Federal External Funding and Compliance Department for Spring Branch ISD. She is involved with many organizations including Howard University Alumni Association, Destination Imagination-North Harris, Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.


Dan Brooks

Board of Directors, Treasurer

Dan Brooks was born and raised in Houston Texas. He attended Sam Houston State University, receiving a Bachelor's of Administration in Accounting. Dan later attended Prairie View A&M University, earning an MBA.


Upon graduation, he entered the accounting field with careers in commercial real estate and property management. 


Founder & Executive Director

Sharoma Scurry-Graves is a native of Queens, New York. She attended Grambling State University, earning a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology. She also attended the University of Houston, receiving a Master of Social Work.


Mrs. Scurry-Graves is a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and Grambling University National Alumni Association.
