Board of Directors, President
Alecia Thomas has served in education for over 17 years. She grew up witnessing the impacts her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother had on people and their academic success. They influenced her to become an educator.
Alecia believes that education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact on the lives of their students. As a result of her hard work ethic, Mrs. Thomas was honored as 2015-2016 Teacher of The Year. She currently serves on the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Committee, and supports students with diverse learning needs.
Alecia earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Sam Houston State University. She married her college sweetheart and they have 4 children; 3 sons and 1 daughter.
Board of Directors, Vice President
Francis Mawelle comes from a large family of 15 siblings. He recently completed his graduate degree from the University of Houston-Victoria. Before attending UH Victoria, Francis attended Makerere University, Kampala. There he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He currently works at Lone Star College, where he supports a team of Educators.
In his free time, Francis enjoys spending time with his family. He enjoys listening to podcasts and the news, in addition to researching and learning about new technological developments

LaToyia Jones is a proud graduate of Prairie View A&M University. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education with a minor in Social Work and a Master's in Educational Administration. She is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree through Walden University.
Currently, LaToyia teaches for Conroe I.S.D. at Wilkerson Intermediate. She has been fortunate to coach multiple extracurricular activities, such as cheer, basketball, cross country and track. LaToyia has been very successful at accommodating diverse student needs. She hopes to continue reaching youth in order to produce productive young adults.
Board of Directors, Treasurer
Dan Brooks was born and raised in Houston Texas. He attended Sam Houston State University, receiving a Bachelor's of Administration in Accounting. Dan later attended Prairie View A&M University, earning an MBA.
Upon graduation, he entered the accounting field with careers in commercial real estate and property management.
Founder & Executive Director
Sharoma Scurry-Graves is a native of Queens, New York. She attended Grambling State University, earning a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology. She also attended the University of Houston, receiving a Master of Social Work.
Mrs. Scurry-Graves is a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and Grambling University National Alumni Association.
